Abstract:
A sugar chain which contains a trimannosyl pentasaccharide of the formula 1 in which R<1> is hydrogen or acetyl (Ac) and R<2> is -OH, -NH2 or -NHNH2 or R<1> are acetyls and R<2> is -NHAc or -NHNHAc and R<3> is hydrogen or alpha -L-fucopyranosyl, and which is obtained from glycoproteins by hydrazinolysis, can be used for the chemotherapy or chemoprophylaxis of malaria.
