PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of recording disturbance, by a method wherein a step motor is reversed in a predetermined amount when it is stopped by the interruption of an image signal and the driving of a thermal head is delayed corresponding to a reversed amount when the image signal is again supplied after interruption.
CONSTITUTION: When the supply of an image signal 22 is interrupted on the way of recording, a driving signal 23 and the image signal 29 are not outputted from a control circuit 21 and the drivings of a step motor 28 and a thermal head 32 are stopped. At this time, a timer 33 is operated by the OFF signal of a positive rotating pulse generator 24 and a drive signal 34 is outputted after a predetermined time to generate a predetermined reverse rotating pulse signal 36 by a reverse rotating pulse generator 35 while the step motor 28 is reversely rotated to excessively return an ink donor sheet to the reverse direction corresponding to back-lash. When the image signal 21 is again supplied, the step motor 28 is positively rotated to drive a thermal head 32 so as to delay a time required in positively rotating said motor 28 corresponding to the reversed amount. By this method, image quality is enhanced without disturbing a recording pitch.
