PURPOSE: To improve a printing quality and perform a high-speed recording in an ink jet recording method by a method wherein multivalued image data for a plurality of colors corresponding to the same recording position is binarized in parallel, and the number of recording dots to the same recording position is limited by sequencing the binarized results.
CONSTITUTION: An average density operation part 1-1 operates an average density around a target pixel, for example, by binarized data for a color Y. A comparator 4-1 binarizes post-error correction input data P'y transmitted from a binarizing error correction part 2-1 using an average density value my as a threshold. The data for the other colors M, C, and K are similarly processed. A binarizing control part 15 inputs average values my, mm, mc, mk and post-binarizing error correction data Py' Pm', Pc', Pk' for every color, compares the positive binarizing errors thereof, and takes priority to a larger binarizing error. For example, if a condition of (Pc'-mc)>(Pm'-mm) is held, a control signal is outputted so that the output of a Magenta (M) comparator 4-2 is '0' to obtain Qc=1 and Qm=0.
