Abstract:
PURPOSE:To effectively reduce a leak amount of high pressure fluid into a shaft seal device, by surrounding the outlet side of leak fluid of a rotary shaft with a gap apart through a honeycomb opened in the radial direction. CONSTITUTION:A rotary shaft 20a is rotated to deliver leak fluid by centrifugal force to the periphery of a honeycomb 22, and fluid of low pressure P2 in the outlet side of a shaft seal flows in through a fluid passage 24' between protrusive parts 24 vertically provided to the shaft 20a and into a hollow area 23. While the delivered leak fluid from the honeycomb 22 flows in through a leak fluid passage, formed by an extended hole internal peripheral wall of the shaft in a stationary member 10a and honeycombs 21, 22 glued to the periphery of the shaft 20a, in the direction of the fluid of low pressure P2, and partially flows in through said passage in the direction of fluid of high pressure P1 respectively, and a flow of the latter oppositely collides against the leak fluid advancing in said passage from a side of the fluid of the high pressure P1 to block its advance, while a flow of the former is circulated through the honeycomb 22 to form a fluid curtain to an outlet part of the leak fluid.
