Title:
COMPOSITE PACKING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5828057
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To heighten sealing stability of a composite packing by burying a form memory alloy as a core material in an elastic material en bloc. CONSTITUTION:A form memory alloy 1 is buried in a synthetic rubber 2 en bloc so as to form a composite packing 3. When the clamping temperature is lower than martensite transformation temperature of the form-memory alloy 1, the clamping pressure causes the form memory alloy 1 as well as the synthetic rubber 2 to be easily compressed and deformed. When the temperature of the packing 3 rises more than the martensite transformation temperature, the form memory alloy 1 is about to be restored to the initial state. Therefore, the synthetic rubber 2 receives a great working pressure as reaction force from the interior thereof toward a portion contacting a flange 4, so as to show sealing stability better than a single packing of a synthetic rubber.
