PURPOSE: To increase the number of wide band media terminals allowed to use a repeating circuit by forming a monitoring means for comparing the number of using channels of the repeating circuit of a switchboard with a prescribed value and a speed changing means for changing a transmission speed, and when the number of using channels of the repeating circuit exceeds the prescribed value, reducing the transmission speed of a wide band access.
CONSTITUTION: An identification circuit 19 in a monitoring device 18 discriminates the number of using channels of the high speed repeating circuit 8 and a comparator 20 compares the discriminated result with the prescribed number of using channels. When the current number of using channels is larger than the prescribed number of channels, a control signal is sent from the comparator and inputted to a selector 23 in each wide band access media terminal 16. When a speed variable control part 24 in the terminals 16 sends transmission information by a driver 21 having 32Mbps transmission speed, the selector 23 switches the current driver 21 to a driver 22 having 16Mbps transmission speed on the basis of the instruction from the comparator 20 to transmit the information. When the comparator 20 detects that the number of using channels of the repeating circuit 8 drops less than the prescribed value, the comparator 20 sends a control signal to switch the driver 22 to the driver 21.
