PURPOSE: To simplify the constitution of a telephone set by using an electrochromic display element in common for the display for confirming entry and a device for storing entry to read directly the display content by means of storage function and transmit the read result to an exchange in a short time.

CONSTITUTION: A button panel 1, an entry start button 3, and entry clear button 4 and an ECD display body 2 are arranged to a pushbutton telephone set. The ECD display body 2 is formed as the assembly of an electrochromic display element (ECD) in common use for the display of entry confirmation and a storage device storing entry. The telephone set is provided with an ECD drive circuit 5, a display reading circuit 6, an encoder 7, a transmission/reception circuit 8 and a control circuit 9, and a line 10 and a receiver circuit 11 are connected to the circuit 8. Then the display content of the ECD display body 2 is read by the circuit 6, fed to the control circuit 9 via the encoder 7, the result is fed to an exhange, and when the opposite side is busy, the telephone number of the opposite party is stored by the storing function of the ECD display body 2 to simplify the next operation.
