PURPOSE: To enhance sensitivity and charge retentivity of a function separating type photoreceptor made by laminating a charge transfer layer and a photosensitive layer (charge generating layer), by composing the photosensitive layer of ≥2 vapor deposited laminated layers.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a 60μm thick Se layer is first formed on a conductive substrate of aluminum or the like. Next, 3 evaporation sources contg. an SeTe alloy contg. 20% Te each in a specified amount are provided, a 1μm thick SeTe layer is formed on the first Se layer by heating the first evaporation source to 400°C, further, a 1μm thick SeTe layer is overlaid by heating the second source to 400°C, and besides, a similar layer is likewise formed from the third source. The total 3μm thick photosensitive layers are deposited by maintaoning the temperature of the evaporation sources constant so as to control Te concn. below 30W40% in the vapor deposited layer, thus permitting the plural evaporation sources to be evaporated successively in order to prevent rise of Te concn. and drop of charging capability caused by the lapse of deposition time in using only the same evaporation source, and high sensitivity and superior chargeability to be obtained.
