PURPOSE: To obtain a recording medium which is extremely highly durable, obviates clogging of a magnetic head and has an excellent C/N ratio by incorporating dibenzyl sulfide into a magnetic layer consisting of the magnetic metallic powder dispersed in a binder resin thereby improving the corrosion resistance of the magnetic powder.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic coating contg. dibenzyl sulfide at 0.1W5pts.wt. by 100pts.wt. magnetic powder is coated on a non-magnetic base and is then dried and cured to form a magnetic layer in which the magnetic metallic powder or the like consisting essentially of iron is dispersed in a binder resin. The dibenzyl sulfide covers the surface of the magnetic metallic powder thereby improving the corrosion resistance of said powder. A magnetic recording medium which is highly durable, obviates powder dislodging and clogging of a head, has a good C/N ratio and is suitable for a video, etc. is obtd.
