PURPOSE: To obtain a ferrule having high connecting accuracy by forming a projecting part of a resin which is not attacked by an etching agent to the tip of a ferrule body consisting of a resin contg. an inorg. fillter having ≥2 Mohs scale.

CONSTITUTION: A ferrule body 1 consisting of a resin contg. an inorg. filler having ≥2 Mohs scale is manufactured by a transfer molding method, extrusion molding method or the like and thereafter an optical fiber strand 2 is fixed by an adhesive agent 4 to the body 1. The tip of the ferrule body 1 and the optical fiber strand 2 projecting from the tip of the body 1 are coated with a resin contg. an inorg. filler by which the ferrule for an optical connector is obtd. The material of the projecting part 5 for holding the optical fiber strand is not limited particularly as far as said material is a resin which is not attacked by an etching agent and which is exemplified by an opoxy resin, phenolic, resin, etc.
