Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain sulpiride useful as an antiulcer or a psychopharmaceutical in high yield, by reacting easily obtainable 1-ethyl-2-aminomethylaziridine as a raw material with a benzoic acid derivative, reacting the reaction product with ethylene.
CONSTITUTION: A benzoic acid derivative shown by the formula III (R is halogen, OH, or lower alkoxy) is reacted with 1-ethyl-2-aminomethylaziridine shown by the formula IV, to give a compound shown by the formula II. This compound is then reacted with ethylene in an inert organic solvent (e.g., methanol, ethanol, etc.) to give 1-ethyl-2-(2-methoxy-5-sulfamoylbenzamidomethyl)pyrrolidine(sulpiride) shown by the formulaI.
