PURPOSE: To manufacture an Al-base sintered sliding member contg. oil, causing little friction, and having superior wear resistance and toughness by mixing powders of Al, Cu, Si, Mg, Sb and Zn in a specified ratio, press-molding the mixture, sintering it, and impregnating lubricating oil into the resulting porous sintered body.

CONSTITUTION: Powders of Cu, Si, Mg, Sb, Zn and Al are mixed so as to provide a composition consisting of 2.5W9.0% Cu, 0.3W10% Si, 0.3W1.5% Mg, 0.1W 2.0% Sb, 0.3W4.0% Zn and the balance Al. Al-Cu alloy powder contg. 20W50% Cu may be used by 12.5W18% in place of the Cu powder. The powdery mixture is press-molded into a prescribed shape and sintered by heating at 530W560°C in a reducing atmosphere for 15W45min. The resulting sintered body is porous, so lubricating oil is impregnated into the sintered body to manufacture an Al alloy sliding member contg. oil.
