Abstract:

PURPOSE: To give a carrier for an electrophotographic developer stable frictional charging characteristics and durablility by coating the surface of a carrier particle with resin containing metallic alcoholate.

CONSTITUTION: Carrier particles 4 (e.g. ferrite carrier) are contained in a chamber 2 and air from a blower 1 is admitted into the chamber 2 to scatter carrier particles 4. Simultaneously, a resin solution 6 containing metallic alcoholate is sprayed from a spray nozzle 5 and dried sticking on surfaces of carrier particles 4 to cover the surface of the carrier particles 4 with resin containing the metal alcoholate, obtaining the target carrier for the electrophotographic developer. As the metal alcoholate aluminum isopropylate, magnesium sec-butylate, etc. are used and as the coating resin, epoxy resin, phenol resin, etc. are preferably.
