PURPOSE: To straighten both a thick plate and a thin plate by the same device, by constituting a titled leveler for straightening an internal residual stress distribution of a plate product, of main and pre-roller straightening mechanisms whose leveling rolls have a large diameter and a small diameter, respectively, and a pinch roll.
CONSTITUTION: A roller leveler has a main roller straightening mechanism 11, a pre-roller straightening mechanism 12 of its front, and a pair of pinch rolls 13, 14 of its front and between the mechanisms 11, 12. The mechanism 11 has upper and lower roll 18 groups 19a, 19b consisting of leveling rolls 18a, 18b which can straighten a thick plate. The mechanism 12 has upper and lower roll 27 groups 28a, 28b consisting of small diameter leveling rolls 27a, 27b which can straighten a thin plate. The mechanism 12 and the pair of rolls 13, 14 are supported by exclusive frames 22, 23 and 24, respectively. In case of straightening a press plate material of a thick plate, the pair of rolls 13, 14 and the roll (group) of the mechanism 12 are made to ascend, and only the mechanism 11 is used. On the other hand, in case of a thin plate, said roll (group) which has been made to ascend is made to descend, and the plate material is inserted and held by the rolls 13, 14, and straightened by the mechanism 12 and 11.
