Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I (R1 is methyl, ethyl, or propyl; R2 is H, or 1W4C lower alkyl) and its salt.

EXAMPLE: 1-Ethyl-6,8-difluoro-7-( 1-homopiperazinyl )-4-oxo-1,4-dihydroquinoline-3- carboxylic acid.

USE: An antibacterial agent. Having high antibacterial action on Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, useful as a drug.

PREPARATION: A 6,7,8-trifluoro-4-oxo 1,4-dihydroquinoline-3-carboxylic acid derivative shown by the formula II is reacted with a homopiperazine derivative shown by the formula III in the absence of a solvent or in a solvent (e.g., water, butanol, 3-methoxybutanol, DMF, etc.) to give a compound shown by the formula I .
