PURPOSE: To let an operator know the supply source of jammed paper and facilitate paper removing operation by displaying the occurrence of paper jamming and which cassette is selected.

CONSTITUTION: Two cassettes containing copy paper of different size are loaded in a copying machine body at an upper and a lower position. A copy operator selects one cassette according to desired copy size. Copy paper is fed out of the selected cassette and if a paper jam occurs during copying operation, a display (e.g. M) showing the occurrence of the paper jamming in the machine and a display (e.g. N) showing that the upper part of the machine is opened whereas a cassette figure corresponding to the selected cassette for paper feeding is erased are turned on and loff alternately. Consequently, the operator is indicated to draw the selected cassette out and open the upper part of the machine.
