PURPOSE: To make a favorable packaging without slack possible even when a protruding part exists on the top of an object to be packaged by a method wherein the title packaging device is constituted in such a manner that when a roller to guide a packaging sheet passes by around the top end of an object to be packaged, rock-driving is intermittently performed.

CONSTITUTION: A driving electrically operated motor 23 is link-driven in a region in which a packaging sheet 1 is guided from a roller 27 operation start position along an arc shaped part on the side of an object to be packaged C, and the electrically operated motor 23 is intermittenly turn-driven in a region in which the packaging sheet 1 passes by around the upper end of the object to be packaged C. By doing this, even when the cut end of the root part of the object to be packaged C protrudes, the roller 27 does not rise, and already folded other sheet side ends 1a, 1b, 1c are prevented from being slackened.
