Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance of a plated spectacle frame and to stabilize the color tone by heating the spectacle frame to a relatively low temp. in vacuum or an inert gas to grow the grain size of the plated layer. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a Cu alloy, an Ni alloy or stainless steel is plated with Ni or a Pb alloy, and it is further plated with an Au alloy by electrodeposition to form a spectacle frame. The plated spectacle frame is heated to 150-350 deg.C in a vacuum or an inert gas. By the heat treatment the grain size of the plated layer is grown to remove pinholes, and a stable color tone and corrosion resistance are obtd.
