PURPOSE: To prevent the surface roughening of a cold-rolled low-carbon steel sheet during working due to the abnormal growth of the grains by properly controlling conditions during the heating of the steel sheet when the sheet is continuously annealed.
CONSTITUTION: An Al killed steel ingot contg. 0.005W0.04% C, 0.005W0.08% Al and 0.001W0.01% N is hot rolled into a plate. This plate is coiled at ≤640°C, cold rolled, and continuously annealed. At this time, relation represented by equation 1 is satisfied among the velocity V(°C/sec) of a temp. rise from 550°C to the annealing temp., the annealing temp. T(°C) and the annealing time S(sec). The surface roughening of the resulting cold rolled steel sheet during working can be avoided. The roughening is caused by the abnormal growth of the grains dependent on conditions during working and heat treatment in the manufacture of the steel sheet.
