PURPOSE: To miniaturize a transfer material receiving part by dispensing with the occupying space of the drive source between a pair of winding cores, by transmitting the power of a drive source to a recording head through a power transmission member inserted between a pair of winding cores of the transfer material receiving part to move said head.

CONSTITUTION: A motor 42 as a drive source is provided to the outside of a transfer material cassette 35 and the power transmission member of the motor 42 is inserted between a pair of winding cores 32, 33 of the transfer material cassette 35 to transmit power to a thermal head 11 to move the same. Therefore, the occupying space of the motor 42 between a pair of the winding cores 32, 33 becomes necessary and the transfer material cassette 35 can be miniaturized in the size corresponding to said space. Further, because power is transmitted by a pair of parallel press rods 69, 69, the movement of the thermal head 11 can be made parallel and pressure to a platen 10 can be uniformized.
