Title:
PRODUCTION OF COMPOSITE PISTON HEAD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60118367
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a composite piston head which is lightweight and is highly resistant to heat by coating Ni powder to an Ni foamed body, subjecting molten Al to high-pressure casting and forming an Al-Ni compd. between the foamed metal and the molten Al.

CONSTITUTION: Ni powder is coated on a foamed metal consisting principally of Ni having three-dimensional irregular network structure to increase and control the content of Ni thereby controlling the strength and heat resistance of a blank material. Molten Al or Al alloy is then subjected to high-pressure casting to fill the molten Al in the spaces in the foamed metal then an Al-Ni compd. is formed between the foamed metal and the molten Al by a heat treatment. A piston head which is lightweight and is highly resistant to heat is produced by using such body.
