PURPOSE: To obtain fine epoxy based particles having an average particle diameter within a specific range and improved heat and solvent resistance, by adding a water-soluble curing agent containing a specific amount of hydrazine (derivative) to an uncured epoxy based resin emulsion.
CONSTITUTION: Fine particles obtained by emulsifying an uncured epoxy compound, preferably consisting of 80W100wt% compound having two or more epoxy groups and 0W20wt% compound having one epoxy group, adding a water- soluble curing agent containing hydrazine (derivative) expressed by the formula (R is H, ≥5C alkyl, phenyl or 2-hydroxyethyl) in an amount of 20% or above of amine equivalent calculated stoichiometrically from the epoxy equivalent of the above-mentioned emulsion, and curing the resultant mixture in the particulate form.
USE: Usable as fillers for rubber, plastics, etc. and chromatographic column packings, etc. since functional groups can be introduced into the surface of the particles.
