Title:
CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF THIN METALLIC STRIP BY QUICK COOLING METHOD FOR MOLTEN METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5823544
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To permit changing over of coiling reels continuously under high speed in the stage of producing a thin strip by ejecting molten metal from a nozzle onto a rotating roll by using carousel type reels.

CONSTITUTION: Molten steel 2 is conducted to an intermediate storage tank 5 by the operation of a stopper 3, and is ejected from a nozzle 7 onto a rotary cooling roll 8 under gaseous pressure 6 or the like, whereby the steel is quickly cooled to solidify to a thin strip 9. If necessary, the strip 9 is stripped from the roll by injection of gas or the like, and is taken up on one reel 11 of the plural reels on the housing 13 of a carousel type reel 12. The housing 13 is rotated clockwise to position the reel 14 in extreme proximity to the quick cooler, and when the take-up of the reel 11 ends, the strip 9 is cut in the paddle part by quick rotation of the reel 11 or instantaneous pulling of gaseous jets. At the same instant, the taking up with the reel 14 is started and the strip 9 on the reel 11 is taken up freshly on the other reel.
