Title:
ELECTROMAGNETICALLY STIRRING METHOD OF MOLTEN STEEL IN CONTINUOUS CASTING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS59104258
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a billet having good quality at a low cost by controlling specifically a working frequency according to the width of a casting mold in the stage of providing an electromagnetic coil only on one broad side of the billet and acting a moving magnetic field in an upward direction in parallel with the drawing direction of the billet.

CONSTITUTION: The continuous casting wherein an electromagnetic coil is provided only on one broad side of a billet under casting and a moving magnetic field by the coil is acted in an upward direction in parallel with the drawing direction of the billet is accomplished by controlling a frequency f(Hz) to be acted on the electromagnetic coil according to the width W(mm) of a casting mold so that the frequency f and the width W satisfy the equation. The foam to be produced and inclusion are thus eliminated, a rate of cubic crystal is increased and electric current is decreased.
