PURPOSE: To obtain uniform fibrous bundles without an uneven draft from slivers with omitted roving steps, by means of a sliver guide of special shape provided on the sliver feed side of back rollers in a drafting apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: In a drafting apparatus consisting of back rollers 2, middle rollers 4 having an apron 3 and front rollers 5, a long sliver guide 1 in almost the cylindrical form having a sliver path 12 with gradually reducing width is provided on the sliver feed side (S) of the back rollers 2. The sliver guide 1 is made of a resin and has about 15cm whole length. The outlet (12a) thereof is preferably provided as near the contact line (2a) of the back rollers 2 as possible. The inlet (12b) of the guide 1 has a size sufficient to receive all the slivers (S) of 100W500g/yd, and the cross-sectional area of the outlet (12a) is preferably 40W20mm2 for the slivers (S) of 100W50g/yd and 30W10mm2 for the slivers (S) 50W20g/yd.
