PURPOSE: To make jumping of plural tracks quickly and surely by supplying a a starting signal for track jumping in sychronization with a reproduced with a reproduced vertical synchronizing signal, counting the zero cross of tracking errors, and outputting a damping signal.

CONSTITUTION: A jump command signal detecting circuit 14 that inputs a vertical synchronizing signal and video signal detects a jump command signal inserted in the blanking period just after the vertical synchronizing signal, and gives a jump command output at each frame. A zero cross detecting circuit 6 wich is in the operating state with starting of still picture reproduction detects only zero cross from positive to negative of tracking error output and inputs to a counting circuit 7. The circuit 7 supplied count up pulses to a damping pulse generating circuit 8.
