PURPOSE: To obtain the titled resin of excellent film performance, by polymerizing a radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer in the presence of a water- soluble resin obtained from a specified α,β-ethylenically unsaturated monomer, an unsaturated monomer containing a plurality of unsaturated bonds, etc.
CONSTITUTION: An α,β-ethylenically unsaturated monomer of formula I (wherein R1 is H or methyl, R2 is a group of formula II, phenylene, or the like, n is 1W4, and R3 and R4 are each methyl or ethyl), e.g., methylaminoethyl acrylate, is copolymerized with an unsaturated monomer having at least two unsaturated bonds of different polymerizability in the molecule, e.g., allyl acrylate, and an unsaturated monomer copolymerizable with components A and B, e.g., methyl acrylate. A radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer, e.g., methyl acrylate, is polymerized in an aqueous dispersion in the presence of a water-soluble resin prepared by neutralizing the above produced polymer with an acid to obtain the titled resin composition.
