Title:
MULTI-COLOR INK JET RECORDING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5968246
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To practically widen the tonal represensation range of a multi-color ink jet recording system without causing the flow of ink by selecting the shapes of printing dots by the function of average occupying areas in the matrix.

CONSTITUTION: Codified video signals of 6-bit × 3-color read out of the buffer memory are corrected at an intermediate corrector 7, converted into 4-bit codes, and sent to a matrix selector 8. In the matrix selector 8, by 4×3-bit address, the shapes of printing dots are selected by a function of average occupying areas in the matrix in such a way that level ratio to be indicated by input signals to maximum level becomes equal to the ratio of printing areas to the maximum occupying area, and printing is made through a line buffer 10 and an ink jet head drive circuit. The tonal representation range can thus be practically widened without causing the flow of ink.
