Abstract:

PURPOSE: The reaction between an amino compound, formaldehyde and a monohydric alcohol is carried out in the presence of an anionic surface active agent to produce the titled resin of low solution viscosity readily in high efficiency with a reduced amount of the alcohol used.

CONSTITUTION: An anionic surface active agent such as 1W10C dialkylsulfosuccinic acid alkali metal salt is added to the reaction system containing an amino compound subject to methylolation such as melamine or benzoguanamine, formaldehyde and a monohydric alcohol such as methanol or ethanol by 0.1W 2pts.wt based on the amino compound and the reaction is effected to give the objective resin.
