Abstract:
PURPOSE:To sharply save fuel and to improve the function of an engine brake, by a method wherein the desired engine speed is held at higher than a fuel cut rotational speed during a particular deceleration period. CONSTITUTION:During a particular deceleration period, a desired engine speed N'e is held at higher than a fuel cut rotational speed Ne. This causes increasing of the desired engine speed N'e during said particular deceleration period and lengthening of a fuel cut time prevailing during deceleration, resulting in the possibility to sharply save fuel. Further, an increase in the desired engine speed N'e causes an increase in a torque amount absorbed by the engine, resulting in the possibility to improve the function of an engine brake.
