PURPOSE: To enable development of an image in a bright room and to enable easy toner fixing as well by providing a strippable mask layer having light shieldability on the rear of an electrostatic recording material and providing a low resistance layer and dielectric layer by which an electrostatic latent image is obtd. on the front thereof.

CONSTITUTION: A strippable mask layer 4 having light shieldability is provided on the rear of a transparent base 1 having a low resistance layer 2 and a dielectric layer 3 on the front thereof. The layer 4 is formed by dissolving and dispersing a pigment or dye having a light shielding effect to active rays, above all, UV rays into a flexible thermoplastic high polymer material. The volume resistivity value of the base 1 is 101W1020Ωcm. The layer 4 may also be provided by coating a light shieldable coating liquid on the front of the transparent base separate from the base 1 and laminating such transparent base to the rear of the base 1 via a laminate layer adherable to the rear of the transparent base.
