Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain adequate photo-magnetic recording medium material having high recording sensitivity and excellent oxidation-proofness and corrosion resisting property and light transmitting characteristic by using a material having the composition indicated by particular general expression.

CONSTITUTION: A metal oxide magnetic material having the composition indicated by a general expression, MeO.n[Gax.InyFe2-(x+y)O3] (where Me is Bar, Sr and/or Pb; 0<X≤0.8, 0<Y≤0.6, 5≤n≤6) or a magnetic film having the composition indicated by above expression is used. Said magnetic material can be formed, for example, by the following processes that the predetermined amount of BaCO3, SrCO3 and/or PbCO3 and Fe2O3 and Ga2O3 and In2O3 are mixed and pulverized. These are then molded by the metal die and sintered at a temperature of about 1,200W1,400°C. Moreover, said magnetic film can be formed, for example, by adhering said magnetic material as a target to a substrate in the thickness of 0.1W10μm by the vacuum deposition method at the substrate temperature of 500W600°C.
