Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the abrasion of an abutting part, in said abutting part between the internal circumferential face of the side rail of a combined oil ring and the edge of a space expander, by subjecting the former to chromium plating and the latter to plating with phosphorus containing nickel in which silicon nitride is dispersed. CONSTITUTION:Chromium plated layer is formed on either of two parts, the internal circumferential face of a side rail and the fitting face of the edge of a space expander, which are pressed and abutted each other, and nickel plated layer, in which 2-10wt% of phosphorus is contained, is formed on the other of said two parts. In this nickel plated layer, particles of silicon nitride of 0.5-5mum mean particle size are dispersed in 5-30vol%. Both parts, moreover, are treated with a hardening process and have over 800 of Micro-Vickers hardness.
