Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an efficient conversion by providing additional information denoting connectable KANJIs, etc. about converted words corresponding to headwords on dictionary memory, by dividing an input KANA string front and rear, and by deciding whether corresponding KANJIs are included or not. CONSTITUTION:When a KANA string is inputted from a keyboard device 2, it is stored in a KANA buffer 42, whether or not a dictionary memory 6 includes a headword is retrieved. When the dictionary memory 6 does not include candidates, a character string of the buffer 42 is divided into a front and rear part, and each headword is serached. KANJIs, which can be used for an abbreviation among registered KANJIs, in the dictionary memory 6 are inserted by a patition code at the location to be divided. When existence of the partition code is decided, the KANA string of the rear part is supplied to a dictionary memory controller 5, and whether or not the string is included in the detected headword is checked. When it is recognized that the KANA string of the rear part is reading of the KANJI corresponding to the detected headword of the dictionary, the KANJI is decided to be dividable and a KANJI string of abbreviation can be obtained.
