PURPOSE: To enable an accurate detection of flaws with a easier clamping at the end of a short tube by providing a holder for an ultrasonic probe at the tip of a rotary arm pivoted on a grabber clamped at the end thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A holder 11 is arranged to be optimal in the position and the attitude with an axial length direction adjustable expander 9 and a heightwise expander 10 provided at the tip of a rotary arm 8 pivoted on a grabber 7 clamped at the end of a pair of short tubes 2 following the end of a butt welding thereof and ultrasonic probes 5 and 5' are set. A rotary arm 8 is turned with a rotary device 12 to rotate the probes 5 and 5' once together whereby an ultrasonic beam is radiated to inspect flaws by an reflected echo.
