PURPOSE: To enable rapid movement to a designated position of an optical lens in accordance with a varriable power by enabling gradual change from the first movement speed of the optical lens to the second speed on reaching to a position apart by a designated distance from a position corresponding to a designated magnification.
CONSTITUTION: The peripheral part of a disc 8 directly connected with a rotating shaft of a DC motor 21 is provided with, e.g., 20 holes at equal intervals, the light transmissions through these holes are detected with a photointerrupter 27, and the rotation of the motor 21 is converted into a series of pulses. The arrival of a zoom lens 3 at the predetermined standard position P1 is detected by intercepting a photointerrupter 30 fixed at the position P1 with an intercepting plate 29. These detection pulses and data on copying magnification designated from ten-keys 34 are fed to a microcomputer 33, and it controls a normal and reverse motor rotation changing circuit 31 and a high and low speed changing circuit 32 in accordance with an instruction from a lens movement start instruction switch 35 to drive the motor 21, and the lens 3 is moved in speeds corresponding to the movement distance and stopped at the position corresponding the designated magnification.
