PURPOSE: To improve safety for the use and to make a device small-sized by providing a device which cover a wire and a pulley, which are turned for moving an original platen back and forth, with a shutter operated in accordance with motion of the original platen.

CONSTITUTION: A dowel 24a is engaged with a taper face 27c of a link 27 when an original platen 24 is moved right in the figure, and the dowel 24a rotates the link 27 clockwise around a fulcrum in the lower end against a return spring 30 when the original platen 24 is moved right furthermore. Then, a shutter member 25 is turned clockwise around a member 25b, and the outside circumferential face of a turning pulley is covered with the shutter member 25 and cannot be touched from the external. When the original platen 24 is moved left in this state, the link 27 is turned counterclockwise by the return spring 30, and the shutter member 25 is returned to the original position. The similar operation is performed with respect to a right shutter of the shuute member 25, and thus, safety is improved and the device is made small-sized.
