PURPOSE: To obtain a small-sized, lightweight magnetic head which has an excellent S/N ratio, and is easy to assemble and mass-produced, by uniting core hold case half bodies to shield case half bodies of a magnetic head.

CONSTITUTION: A shield case consists of case half bodies 11a and 11b fomed by the press working of metallic sheet. In the shield half bodies 11a and 11b, core holder half bodies 12a and 12b are molded by, for example, zinc die casting or resin molding while united to the shield case half bodies. The shield case half bodies 11a and 11b have hollows 13a and 13b in the mutually opposed surfaces; notches 14a1 and 14a2, and 14b1 and 14b2 to which the front gap of a core part extend are made in the respective corresponding front surfaces, and notches 15a1 and 15a2, and 15b1 and 15b2 for leading out terminals are made in couples in rear end surfaces which face said notches. Simultaneously with the molding of the core holder half bodies 12a and 12b, recessed parts 17a1 and 17a2, and 17b1 and 17b2 where the core half bodies are inserted are molded.
