Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce novel antibiotic substances spirocardin A and B, by culturing a novel microbial strain belonging to Nocardia genus.

CONSTITUTION: Nocardia sp. SANK64282 (FERM-P No.6986) which is a novel strain belonging to Nocardia genus and separated from soil, is cultured aerobically in a manner similar to the culture of general actinomycetes to obtain novel antibiotic substances spirocardin A and B. The antibiotic substance has excellent antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and is effective for the prevention and remedy of animal and vegetable diseases.
