PURPOSE: To reduce the operating time at retrieval and readout, by storing the storage location of selected picture information as discriminating information.

CONSTITUTION: When the operator sets a retrieval/readout mode by a keyboard and inputs a title corresponding required picture information, the picture information is retrieved and read ut from an optical disc device. When the operator performs a bookmarker designating operation in this case, marker information (identification information) is formed by a marker name (number) not in use, storage address of readout picture information and a comment inputted as required, and the information is stored in the identification information storage section. Then, the operator sets the marker function operating mode and the picture information is read out from an optical disc based on the picture information storage address of the marker information by inputting the marker name or the comment. Thus, since the picture information is retrieved by inputting a simple marker name or comment without troublesome title input, the operating time is reduced.
