Abstract:
PURPOSE:To switch a flow passage through a simple constitution, by a method wherein a plug body for sealing connected to the one end of a coil spring made of a shape memory alloy material is located within a body having an inlet port, a first outlet port, and a second outlet port. CONSTITUTION:A coil spring 5 made of a shape memory alloy material in which adjoining element wires are firmly adhered to each other at a low temperature is located within a tubular valve device body 1 having a first outlet port 3 and a second outlet port 4 at opposite ends and an inlet port 2 in a side wall. The one end of the coil spring 5 is connected to a plug body 6 for sealing an opening to form a valve body. When the valve body is at a low temperature, the adjoining element wires of the coil spring 5 are firmly adhered to each other, and this brings the first outlet port 3 into a closed state. When it is at a high temperature, the plug body 6 closes the second port 4. This enables switching of a flow passage through sensing of the temperature of fluid.
