PURPOSE: To enable a photographer to switch an object to be photographed and detected for focus to another to photograph in accordance with the will of photographer by eastablishing a method to return the position of tracking view field set to be transferrable to the initial position.
CONSTITUTION: When a photographic object has one out of a limited area BA, the operation of a movement detection circuit 5 and a gate transfer circuit 6 is once terminated by the control signal supplied from an arithmetic circuit 19, and all the data stored at a movement tracking circuit 5 are cleared, and after a specified time, the tracking view field is returned to the initial position. If there is any object the which the photographer intends to photograph, the characteristic of that object is newly registered, and tracking operation will be executed according to this new data, realizing stable tracking operation which allows photographer to photograph more satisfactory to their intention.
