PURPOSE: To prevent deterioration of image density by arranging a latent image bearing body and a toner carrying body in a prescribed interval in a developing zone, using a specified insulating nonmagnetic toner, coating the toner carrying body with a toner in a thickness thinner than said interval, conveying it to a developing zone, and applying an alternating electric field to develop a latent image.
CONSTITUTION: A latent image bearing body 1 and a toner carrying body 2 are arranged in a prescribed interval in a developing zone. The toner to be used is a microencapsulated toner made by forming the first shell layer on a core material, and partially forming the second shell layer on the first layer, and both shells are triboelectrified to a polarity opposite to each other, and the toner is fed in a thickness tinner than said interval, and used for development while an alternating voltage is applied. Such a toner is prepared by coating the core material with the negatively chargeable first shell layer, and forming the second positively chargeable shell layer, and disintegrating the agglomerates with a coffee mill or the like, and converting the second layer into a partial coating layer. A good image sufficient in image density can be obtained by applying an alternating voltage to develop a latent image.
