PURPOSE: To achieve equal distribution of paste and also uniform thickness of the plate, by providing a paste filling apparatus with a grid transport drum and a paste filling hopper which push paste onto the drum, and further by forming the circumferential surface of the drum uneven.

CONSTITUTION: A drum 10 rotates in the direction indicated by the arrow of the diagram and transports grids 4 which are forwarded from the previous process by auxiliary transport rollers 11, 12. Installed above the drum 10 is a paste filling hopper 13 having a rotary wing 14 and a pair of rollers 15, 15 inside. The paste filling hopper 13 agitates the paste supplied from the upper opening and firmly fills the grids 4 on the drum 10 with the paste. The rotary scraper 16 scrapes excess paste off the grids. Projection 17 which has a section of a trapezoidal shape and is arranged in a grid shape is formed on the surface of the drum 10 in order to increase grid transport capacity. Furthermore, by providing the projection on the drum 10, the grid frame is buried inside of a plate to and the frame works more effectively as a conductor. Thus, plates filled with equal amount of paste and having uniform thickness can be produced.
