CONSTITUTION: A CPU109 receives signals from variable signal sources 101 and an operation part 100 and drives various loads 110 to perform copying operation. Further, a jam is detected by the signals from paper detection sensors 91, 16, and 18, and an in-cassette paper detection sensor 41 and a toner detection sensor 92 detect whether transferring paper and toner are present or not to judge whether copying operation is in readiness or not; when the copying operation is not ready, a generated signal is outputted to a voice converter 11. The surface temperature of a fixing roll is detected by a thermistor 34 and converted by a signal converter 102 into an ON signal, which is supplied to the CPU109. The converter 111 when receiving a voice generating signal from the CPU109 selects voice data in a memory 114 according to its contents and converts it into a voice, which is sent through an amplifier 112 to a speaker 86, and outputted as the voice.
