Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the life of the fuel pump by a method wherein the amount of fuel consumption is compared with the supplying amount of fuel by the fuel pump and the driving speed of the fuel pump is set at a comparatively low predetermined speed so far as the supplying amount of fuel does not become smaller than the amount of fuel consumption.

CONSTITUTION: During the operation of the engine, the amount of fuel consumption, or the injection amount Qf of the fuel per time, is obtained in a control circuit 34 at first based on an engine revolving number N, detected by a revolving number sensor 32, and a fuel injecting time τ, obtained by a program arranged differently. Next, the discharging amount A of the fuel pump under operating in a low speed is obtained based on a suction pressure Pa, detected by a suction pressure sensor 78. Subsequently, said fuel injecting amount Qf is compared with the discharging amount A and the discharging amount is increased by a high speed driving of the fuel pump through the fuel pump controller 18 in case A<Qf. On the other hand, in case of A>Qf, the fuel pump is driven in a low speed through said controller 18 and the discharging amount of the pump is reduced.
