PURPOSE: To prevent disturbance of picture image due to a transfer current and scattering a toner from part where paper does not pass, by constituting a bearing part of a roll, which separates a form to which a toner image is transferred from a photosensitive body, with ceramics having a constant voltage characteristic.

CONSTITUTION: A toner image on a photosensitive drum 10 is transferred to a transfer paper P sent from a passage 14 by a transfer charger 15. The transfer paper P is separated from the photosensitive drum 10 by a separating roll 1 and is carried to a fixing part omitted in the figure. The separating roll 1 is supported by a bearing 4 consisting of ceramics such as an SiC, a ZnO-TiO2, or the like having a constant voltage characteristic, and a potential which has the same polarity as the photosensitive drum 10 and is equal to or higher than the maximum potential of the drum 1 is applied to ceramics. Thus, even if a damp and low-resistance transfer paper is sent, a current is not flowed there to prevent disturbance of picture image, and scattering of the toner from part where the paper does not pass is prevented to stop pollution of the rear face of the transfer material.
