PURPOSE: A herbicidal composition, containing a novel phenoxycarboxylic acid anilide type compound and (benzothiazol-2-yloxy)-N-methylacetanilide as active constituents, and capable of exhibiting improved synergistic herbicidal activity against annual and perennial weeds.
CONSTITUTION: A herbicidal composition containing at least one of novel substance expressed by formula I (R is straight or branched chain lower alkylene; R' is H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxyl or OH; Y is lower alkyl, halogenated lower alkyl, lower alkoxyl, halogen or OH; n is an integer 0W4) and a compound expressed by formula II as active constituents. The above-mentioned composition is capable of controlling accurately annual and perennial weeds in a period from the germination to the stage of somewhat advanced growth in a reduced amount for application without exhibiting the phytotoxicity to paddy rice nor toxicity and showing improved synergistic effects, e.g. such effects prolonged for a considerably long time.
