PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst having suoerior activity and physical properties with high reproducibility by forming iron antimonate as a crystal phase in a catalyst having a specified compsn. contg. Fe and Sb.
CONSTITUTION: Iron antimonate is formed as a crystal phase in a catalyst contg. Fe, Sb, V, Mo, etc., as essential components and represented by a formula FeaSbbVcModWeQfRgPhOi (whre Q is an element such as Li or Na, R is an element such as B or As, a-h show atomic ration, a is 5-15, b is 5-100, c+d+e=3-15, d/a>1 in case of c+e=0, (c+e)/a>0.3 in case of c+e≠0, f is 0-15, g+h=0-10, (c+d+e)/h>1 in case of h≠0 and i is a number corresponding to oxide formed by bonding the above-mentioned components). A catalyst having superior activity and physycal properties can be produced with high reproducibility.
