PURPOSE: To transmit and receive various kinds and forms of required data as a multifunctional facsimile by providing a program realizing a basic data transmission control procedure in addition to a program realizing a conventional facsimile transmission control means.

CONSTITUTION: A control section 3 manages control by a program stored in the 1st memory 1 and the 2nd memory 2. The program realizing the conventional facsimile transmission control procedure (in accordance with the CCITT recommendations T.30) is stored in the 1st memory 1. Then, the program realizing the basic data transmission control procedure is stored in the 2nd memory 2. In transmitting the picture of a conventional facsimile, the transmission control procedure using the 1st memory 1 is performed and in transmitting and receiving various kinds and forms of data as the multifunctional facsimile, the transmission control procedure using the 2nd memory 2 is used switchingly.
